Call Insights: Turn Phone Calls into Actionable Notes
Arc's Call Insights feature transcribes your call recordings, generates smart summaries, and extracts action items — so you never forget what was discussed.
You just finished a 30-minute phone call. You discussed project timelines, assigned tasks, and agreed on next steps. But now, an hour later, you can’t quite remember who was supposed to do what by when.
Call Insights solves this. Upload a call recording, and Arc gives you a full transcript, a smart summary, and a list of extracted action items — all powered by Google Gemini.
What You Get from Call Insights
When you process a call recording, Arc produces three things:
1. Full Transcript
A complete text transcript of the call, so you can search for specific moments, quote exact words, or review the entire conversation at your own pace.
2. Smart Summary
An AI-generated summary that captures the key points of the conversation — what was discussed, what was decided, and what the overall tone was. This is the fastest way to recall what happened without re-reading the full transcript.
3. Extracted Action Items
The most actionable output. Arc pulls out tasks, deadlines, follow-ups, and commitments mentioned during the call. Each item is clearly listed so you can add them to your task manager or calendar.
Supported Audio Formats
Call Insights supports a wide range of audio formats:
| Format | Extension |
|---|---|
| MPEG-4 Audio | .m4a |
| 3GPP | .3gp |
| MP3 | .mp3 |
| AMR | .amr |
| AAC | .aac |
| WAV | .wav |
File size must be between 50 KB and 15 MB. Most phone call recordings fall well within this range.
How to Use Call Insights
- Go to Settings → Call Insights in the Arc app
- Select an audio file — choose a call recording from your device
- Upload and process — Arc sends the recording to be transcribed and analyzed
- Wait for processing — this happens in the background. You’ll receive a notification when it’s ready
- View your results — tap the notification or go to Call Insights history to see the transcript, summary, and action items
Processing happens in the background, so you can continue using your phone normally. Arc sends you a push notification when the analysis is complete.

Privacy and Security
Call recordings are processed through secure, encrypted connections. Your audio files and transcripts are not stored on our servers or shared with third parties. The processing happens, the results are returned to your device, and that’s it.
Tips for Best Results
- Use clear recordings — Call Insights works best with clear audio and minimal background noise. Most modern phone call recorders produce good enough quality.
- Check the file size — Keep recordings under 15 MB. For longer calls, some recording apps let you export in a compressed format.
- Review the action items — The AI does a good job, but a quick review ensures nothing is missed. Add items to your task manager right from the results screen.
- Try it on different call types — Call Insights adapts to the content. Sales calls, meetings, interviews, and casual calls all produce different but equally useful summaries.
Call Insights turns your phone calls from fleeting conversations into permanent, searchable, actionable records. No more “I think they said…” — you’ll know exactly what was discussed and what needs to happen next.
