Building for the Screen You're Already On

I'm Mamata — an indie developer building Arc AI Screen Assistant, an Android app that puts AI where you actually need it: on the screen you're already looking at.

The idea came from a simple frustration. Every AI assistant on Android makes you leave your app, open a chat, type your question, then switch back. That's not assistance — that's interruption. Arc lives as a floating sidebar that reads your screen, understands context, and acts right there. Summarize an article in Chrome. Extract a meeting time from WhatsApp. Draft a reply in Gmail. All without leaving the app you're in.

Why I Build

I believe smartphones should work for you, not make you work for them. Most productivity problems on Android aren't about lacking features — they're about the constant context-switching between apps. Arc solves that by bringing AI to the content itself, not the other way around.

As a solo developer, every feature in Arc is something I personally needed and built from scratch. That means tight focus: no bloat, no feature-of-the-week, just tools that genuinely make your phone more useful.

What Arc Does

  • Summarize any screen — articles, emails, messages, PDFs
  • Smart Extract — pull out dates, events, OTPs, phone numbers, and addresses from any app
  • AI Chat — ask questions about what's on your screen with full context awareness
  • AI Writer — draft replies, emails, and messages with a tap
  • Flashcards — turn any content into study cards instantly
  • Call Insights — transcribe and summarize phone conversations
  • Read Aloud — have any screen content read to you with TTS
  • Accessibility — designed with screen-reader and motor-accessibility support

The Tech

Arc is built natively for Android, using the Accessibility Service API for screen reading and Google Gemini for on-device and cloud AI. It runs as a floating overlay using Android's bubble/picture-in-picture window system — the same tech Android 17 is expanding for multitasking. The app is optimized for speed, battery life, and privacy: all screen processing happens locally, and AI calls use the minimum data needed.
